Equal Housing

Many of the people served by Volunteers of America of Florida have suffered from a lack of affordable housing and its
consequence, homelessness.  Symptoms of mental illness such as; depression anxiety, social isolation and paranoia may
exacerbate the conditions that lead to homelessness.

Volunteers of America of Florida works to promote the self-sufficiency of those who have experienced homelessness
by providing a safe and affordable place to live and addressing the root causes of homelessness through Health Services and
Training Education and Employment Services.

Programs include services to persons with severe and persistent mental illness and / or diagnosed with a substance abuse
disorder, veterans in need and the elderly who cannot afford to live on their income.

Volunteers of America of Florida owns and/or manages properties throughout the state of Florida.  Individuals receive a combination
of training and social rehabilitation services to foster their capacity to live independently in a stable, secure and normalizing
apartment environment.
